Introduction / Irfan Hošić
Photography workshop #InFocus2015 is the creative and artistic project of the Textile Department of the Faculty of Technical Engineering, University of Bihać, whose goal is to gather students of different orientations and creative people in business, as well as spurring questions in field of photography in its various aspects. Affirming the didactic approach, the intention is to establish a platform for creative activity and exchange of experiences among the participants of the workshop. The workshop will be divided into two thematic groups lead by photographer Maja Topčagić and graphic designer Damir Midžić, which will cover all relevant areas of modern perception of photography – from historical development and social significance in different contexts, to the creative thinking about photographic ideas, digital photography and its computer processing, as well as the importance of photography in the context of social networks and the Internet. The five-day workshop will result in a collective exhibition at the Faculty of Technical Engineering, University of Bihać and a catalog of all the works realized in post-production. Organizing this type of workshops is an important structural element in the dynamics of teaching at the Textile Department and seems like one of the long-term strategic solutions for implementation of an idea interdisciplinary with special emphasis on the relation of science-art.

Group #1 / Maja Topčagić
On the basis of individual work and according to personal preferences, the workshop will provide students with general knowledge and developed method of acquiring new photographic skills with a focus on themes such as portrait, figure or still life. Bearing in mind the recent importance of photography in the context of the development of the media, advertising industry and arts, Maja Topčagić will work on resolving the problem of presentation and representation through a photographic product. Combining theory, practical knowledge, experience and individual feedback into a single unit, the workshop will aspire to affirmation of applied photography as one of the important methods of modern presentation and communication with wider public.

Group #2 / Damir Midžić
What role does photography have in times of social networks? What is the efficiency of its unlimited multiplicity, but also of the fact that due to mass use of smart phones every individual is “a photographer"? Graphic designer Damir Midžić considers these issues as a certain starting point and initiates creative platform using photography and its processing (photo editing) in the context of the advertising environment of social networks (Instagram, Facebook, Tweeter). Bringing together photography, typography, fashion and hashtag-culture into a unity aims at drawing attention to the expanded capabilities of viral communication and visual culture today. The ultimate goal of this workshop is creation of a fashion design product, which takes these elements as the basic structure and the creative code of its art.
